Welcome. I am dedicated to serving the diverse needs of students, families, schools, and districts. As a twice exceptional adult who received special services myself, I understand special services from every aspect: an IEP student, a parent of children who are exceptional on 504 plans, and a professional special education teacher. Not only did I experience the special education process working as it was designed, I outperformed my neurotypical peers at my university. It was an honor to be selected as a special education fellow and to give the convocation address to my college of education. Pride filled my heart when I was chosen among my fellow educators as "Rookie of the Year '' for Deer Valley Unified School District in Arizona, 1999. My experience in overcoming a specific learning disability provides me an intuitive ability to read students who might need a different approach to learning. I have the deepest compassion for the students/families navigating the special education process.
