No matter what the education request, as a lifelong advocate for neurodiverse learners, I can step in quickly and immediately create a plan of action. My advocacy brings positive change and clarity to districts, parents, and legal counsel. Most importantly, Ashley's Advocacy changes the trajectory of a student's future. At the center of every discussion is how to best support a student's needs so they can reach their potential. As an educator, I hold degrees in both special and general education. Over the last two decades, I have found innovative solutions that benefit all parties involved.
Ashley's Advocacy came at the perfect time. My son's coursework was getting increasingly challenging and the accommodations for his 504 plan had slipped through the cracks when we moved. We had an incoming 504 plan record from California to Arizona but for whatever reason the school misplaced the paperwork. My email attempts to get someone at the school to make this a priority went unanswered. Ashley knew exactly what needed to happen to get the school's attention and had an incredible sense of urgency given the need to get College Board approvals for AP and SAT testing. She reviewed all of his paperwork over the years, from IEPs to psychologist assessments to state testing to most recent CA 504 plan, and was able to summarize it in a succinct letter to the school and included all of the critical information in an attachment. She also researched and found who to contact within the school district and followed the proper protocol to keep the communication well documented in case they didn't respond and we needed to escalate the situation. Thankfully with her polite, yet strongly worded communication to the school (and district) we were immediately helped and a meeting was scheduled to review my son's needs and classroom accommodations. Throughout the entire process she kept me well-informed, managed my expectations, and helped me understand our rights. In record time, my son was able to get updated accommodations and have less anxiety in his Honors/AP coursework and testing. I definitely couldn't have done this without Ashley. With my busy schedule, I just never took the time to try and figure it out myself -- it was too overwhelming as I had no idea where to start, who to reach out to, let alone even know that this could impact his college assessments! I can't recommend Ashley enough to busy parents that need someone to manage the situation and advocate for their student.
